Cabrinha 2012 IDS Quicklink Control Bar System for Kiteboarding
Sold standard with the new IDS kites for 2012. This control bar will work with any 2010-2012 Cabrinha IDS kite.
Bar setup and safety systems
The all new QuickLink™ control system with IDS is all about connections. Without a doubt the most important piece of kiteboarding equipment is a control system with the ability to securely connect and dis-connect on demand. It shatters the status quo and sets an entirely new standard in design. From its functional form to its ergonomic geometry to its proven handling of security, the QuickLink control system raises the bar to a new untouchable height.
2012 Quicklink IDS Control System Features:
• Ergonomic Bar Design
• Internal Swivel
• Floating Bar Ends
• IDS Safety System
• Removable Security Pin
• Spinning Leash Connection
• Flex Groves
• Multibore Tubing
• Wider Center Line Hole
• Recoil
• Bungee Trim Adjusters
• Improved Line Winders
• New QR2 Release Handle
• Color Coded Left / Right side Designation
NO PULLEYS
The new Powerdrive IDS control system is completely void of any pulleys. The IDS equipped kites all work on a direct 1:1 method of control. This produces virtually no bar pressure, and leaves the bar free of added lines and pulleys.
PROVEN QUICK RELEASE
Industry leading QR. Safety is an integral part of the Cabrinha design culture. This is why they have used the same quick release method for three years running. Their quick release has very few moving parts and is not susceptible to salt or sand. They do not make their QR perform any other function than to Quickly Release. It is easy to activate with a right or left hand, whether the kite has power or not. It's simple. Time tested. Proven.
Override IDS can also be used to manage the tension and placement position of your bungeed trim adjusters. The optional installation of this accessory item will modify the IDS Operation instructions on page 20 of the user manual Specifically, these instructions will supersede the subsection for Depower on Demand (stage 1) operation.
Operation
1) The operation of the Override IDS unit is simple. Position the unit in your desired location along the depower main line.
Many people ride with the unit set at the point where they can reach the power adjusters but where it does not interfere with normal depower.
2) Squeeze the tension ring to achieve your desired holding tension. The tighter you squeeze, the more difficult it is to move the unit. Separate the tension ring to reduce the load tension.
3) To spin your control system, place the bar up near the Override IDS unit. Prior to letting the bar go, spin the bar in the direction needed to take the twists out of your control lines. When the lines have corrected themselves, grab ahold of the bar and resume steering. Take note that you are holding the bar in the correct orientation. The red grip pattern should be on the left and the gray grip pattern should be on the right.
4) To achieve Depower on Demand (Stage 1 depower) push the control bar into the Override IDS unit, pushing the unit towards the kite until the desired depower is achieved. The resistance to move the Override IDS unit will depend on the amount of tension you choose on the tension ring. Higher ring tensions will require more force to push the Override IDS unit towards the kite to achieve Depower on Demand’s first stage of depower.
5) If need be, you can re-position the unit back to your desired location by sliding Override down the main line.
